About the Club

A community sports and leisure club with a long history — and a new chapter.

Our story

For generations, the club on Tewkesbury Road has been a fixture of sporting and social life in Cheltenham. Cricket, football, rugby, lacrosse and archery on our field; tennis and squash on our courts; and the clubhouse at the centre of it all.

In 2026 the club began a new chapter. Formerly run as CACSSA, an association affiliated to the Civil Service Sports Council, the club is now Cheltenham Sports and Leisure Ltd — a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, owned by its members and open to everyone.

The pitches, the courts, the clubhouse and the people have not changed. What has changed is that we are now in charge of our own future, with a structure that protects our volunteers and lets us invest properly in the facilities.

How we are run

The club is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. Any surplus is reinvested into the club.

Not-for-profit

Every penny reinvested in the club

Member-owned

One member, one vote at the AGM

Volunteer-led

Run by people who use the place themselves

Get involved

Not everyone wants to sit on a board, and there are plenty of other ways to help — match days, events, grounds work, social media, one-off projects. If you have a skill you would like to put to use, we would like to hear from you.
